Music Marketing Blog Post #1

To begin the brainstorming process of our music video, we discussed some of the elements of our favorite music videos that we remember loving growing up/currently. While we did not necessarily get inspiration from the content of these videos, we got inspired by the way certain shots were taken or the fast paced editing behind them.

Since some of the lyrics in our song were talking about being under a love spell, we took those words literally and decided to film a storytelling music video about a girl setting a love spell on a boy that she is in love with. We figured out what materials we can use to make it seem like she is making a potion, such as rose petals and colorful water. We also came up with different ways to make the boy seem head over heels in love with the girl, and constantly thinking about her. For example, showing up in his bathroom mirror reflection as he brushes his teeth.

The most challenging aspect of making this idea come to life was the set. Since we have a limited budget and were just filming in a friend's garage, her making the love potion doesn't look as magical or realistic as it would in a high budget music video. For example, there were bike wheels in a frame, since it is made in a normal garage.

This image shows our process when coming up with the music video. This helped us to stay organized and get all the clips we need to make a dynamic and creative music video, without boring our audience. It also makes sure the band is being introduced in the storytelling music video.
