The genre drama tends to cater to the audience of females, specifically between the ages of 16-30. Drama movies include stories that affect the emotions in some way, and are very plot driven. These movies are typically characterized by the intense conflicts that the characters in the movie may have with others or even themselves.

A couple examples of drama films are The Notebook and The Godfather. Dramas typically are portrayed in a "realistic" environment and portrays the life of specific characters, who have some sort of relationship with each other. For example, the relationship between Jack and his love interest, Rose, on the Titanic. Their actions in the film are based on their love for each other, which creates a dramatic effect for the audience.

One thing that characterizes drama films is the real life examples with emotionally driven characters. Much of the film is fast paced and meant to keep the viewers on their toes, constantly driving the story forward.
